About

About Jake Grim and Table Rock Industries

Table Rock Industries, LLC builds websites for contractors who win public work. It was founded by Jake Grim and works from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The research, the writing and the build are done in house, and the phone is answered by someone who worked on your site.

Why contractors

I grew up around them. My father runs APM Building Materials in Arendtsville, a hardware store, lumber yard and pole building manufacturer that makes its own trusses, posts, metal roofing and trim; my mother runs The Pub and Restaurant on the square in Gettysburg. I spent my childhood building things with whatever the store had on the shelf, and my twenties building companies. The contractors I write for now are the people I grew up next to, and the people who walked through my parents' doors: owner-run firms with real work to show and a website that shows none of it.

Timeline

Twenty years of building things

2015

Designed and built a 3D printer from scratch as a freshman at Biglerville High School, January to June 2015, with the enclosure built alongside my grandfather, Elson "Jake" Grim. The Gettysburg Times put it on the front page the following school year, on January 20, 2016.

2016

With three teammates from Biglerville's FFA chapter, won the Pennsylvania FFA agricultural technology and mechanical systems contest at University Park in June,6 then took first place nationally in the team activity at the National FFA convention in Indianapolis that October. The task was to build a wooden roof truss, calculations included.7 Trusses are the family trade, so that one counted.

2017

Built Billy the Bear, an animatronic bear that plays tic-tac-toe, with a Technology Student Association team: first in Pennsylvania, second at the national conference in Orlando.8 The idea came while mucking out a horse stall. The same year, built a PLC-controlled machine with my father that nails laminated posts for pole buildings. It is still running in his plant.

2020

Founded Table Rock Industries, LLC. Its first product was the first QR code menu software for restaurants in the United States, built in spring 2020 so restaurants could operate without printed menus. If you have scanned a code on a bar table and ordered a beer from your phone, you have used the technology.

2021 to 2022

Built Table Rock Markets with Hunter Dubbs, an online marketplace where Pennsylvania farms sell directly to households. First place in Penn State's fourth annual Lion Tank pitch,1 a $10,000 Inc.U award,2 a $10,000 AgChoice Farm Credit grant,3 and a showcase at the 2022 Invent Penn State Venture and IP Conference.4 Table Rock Markets moves about half a million dollars of local food a year across Pennsylvania and neighboring states, and still operates at tablerockmarkets.com. In 2021 I joined Penn State's Nittany AI Alliance5 and put AI to work inside the platform well before it was the normal thing to do.

2023

Designed, manufactured and shipped Wake Hydro, an alarm clock that will not turn off until you drink a glass of water: American-made circuit boards, enclosures printed in Gettysburg, assembled by hand.

2023 to 2024

Built Opp Connector, software that read federal contract opportunities on SAM.gov every day, matched them to contractors, and used AI to draft a bill of materials from the solicitation documents. The technology was licensed to an international government contractor.

2025 to today

Web design for contractors who bid public work: school districts, state agencies, counties, municipalities, authorities and federal agencies. Every site is built around what the people choosing contractors look for.

How we work

  • We read your public record before we talk: awards, bid tabulations, prevailing-wage filings, SAM.gov and state supplier registrations.
  • We write every page. Nothing is generated in bulk, and every number has a source.
  • We build it in house, on a preview you review before your domain moves.
  • We pick up the phone. (717) 398-0230.
